How do you become a sharp shooter for SWAT or the police?
What training and requirements are needed?
Like any other special assignment, you need to start in patrol.
The qualifications and requirements for SWAT are determined by the department, but plan on about 3 years in patrol before you are eligible to apply.These positions are highly desirable and competitive, so there is no guarantee you will be selected. Once you are selected, they will arrange the training.
I was accepted on my third application. Once accepted, they sent me to the basic SWAT school. Our team currently does not have a sniper.
